AeroPress Inverted Method Tutorial
The inverted AeroPress method flips the device upside down so the coffee steeps fully before pressing, giving you total control over the brew time. It is the favorite of competition brewers everywhere.
Set the plunger into the chamber and flip it so the cap is on top. Add coffee and hot water, stir thoroughly, and let it steep for one to two minutes before attaching the filter cap.
Carefully flip the whole assembly onto your mug and press slowly and evenly. The result is a clean, rich cup that sits somewhere between espresso and a French press.
The inverted method prevents the early dripping that the standard method allows, so every drop of water stays in contact with the coffee for the full steep.
Adjust the steep time to taste, with longer steeps yielding more body and shorter ones more brightness. The AeroPress rewards exactly this kind of experimentation.
Master the inverted method and you can dial in strength and flavor with a precision that few other brewers allow. It is small, cheap, and astonishingly capable.
